Day 1. set out at night... having just come back from CA, i was sorta annoyed by the drive thru PA. you know, up 270 and then winding thru the daggone mountains... and apparently the ENTIRE PA's highway is under construction. AND it rained. when i was ready to switch out, i wasn't able to find a rest area for a good 50 minutes. and i just didn't feel safe about pulling over on the shoulder. at least. :( i mean, good thing we didn't need gas or to pee!! sigh. stupid pennsylvania. i co-piloted for Vogel after we switched. i ended up pulling a 24 hour day. since i was such a work-ho. i worked earlier that day. we held the front of the car til 7ish...actually my mind is kind of a blur. i think what happened was we switched after getting gas. and then i passed out while Melissa and Vogel searched for breakfast. all i know is we woke up at Hardees. *grumble* if you know me, you know i love to plan out my food. i can love waffle house as good as any girl, but Hardee's??? but ooo...they had pork chop and country gravy biscuit sandwich. boom said 'and we'll be stopping 30 minutes later' lol... it was kinda gross and good at the same time if you know what i mean. i wouldn't order it again in front of people. but if i was drunk and i saw a Hardee's? i might have at it. :)..i passed out again... as did Vogel. And the next time I wake, they are in the middle of a U-turn or some kind of loop... apparently they decided to swing by Gary, Indiana. something about the Magic Man... is that the movie? Vogel smartly points out that it's where Michael Jackson was born! *teehee* we drive thru. it's scary. but more than that, it's sad. desolate as hell. big ol' warehouse with boarded up windows that had been painted black and then windows painted over with flower pots. what's up with that? is it a ray of hope or just a false illusion? Sock Monkey took some pics and we continued on. I passed out a LOT more. :) Sock Monkey is our star, btw. Melissa stole him from her mom. Her mom doesn't know yet. lol.
